Bio
Bio – Shane McDaniel
My bio and general professional experience is as follows. Currently I am the Chief Information Officer for the City of Seguin, TX, just outside of San Antonio. I have nearly thirty years of experience across multiple IT disciplines supporting the Air Force, national intelligence, reconnaissance, private industry, and municipal government operations.
Career
Throughout my career I have overseen and supported numerous widespread technology initiatives. These include supporting military operations, global technology, cybersecurity, networking, telecom, systems, and more recently GIS visioning.
I have been a stakeholder for countless network, telecom, systems, and cybersecurity infrastructure efforts for my private industry, federal, and municipal government employers. I have worked extensively with fiber ring design, integrations, and facility builds. My time working in private industry was spent managing global cybersecurity operations and the national telecom infrastructure. More than half my career has been spent as a people and hiring manager in the IT field.
I have had the incredibly good fortune to see and experience the world per my life’s work. I spent years living and working in and around Europe and both US coasts. Today I am the proprietor and champion of Country IT as an executive in Texas municipal government. I also have the privilege of serving as an executive board member for the leading local government organization in the state of Texas.
Education
I am an avid writer holding a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Information Technology, and have earned several industry certifications. These include being a Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) from the University of North Carolinas School of Government. I am a Project Manager Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). I also possess ITIL v3 Intermediate Service Operations and CompTIA Security+ certifications.
Famously, I spent twelve years of my personal time pursuing my educational goals. This was in addition to my full time career and family obligations. It wasn’t easy, but I achieved what I set out to do. Doors to success were eventually opened I never felt were possible.
I wanted more, and refused to allow anyone to dictate the circumstances of my career. This website was created to inspire people like me to know there is a path to success that can be attained. It is possible to achieve if you’re willing to work for it.
